A friendly, step‑by‑step walkthrough — with pictures. No jargon.
New to JoyR1der? Start at the top and read down. By the end you'll know how to find your way around, how the in‑app credit works, and how to join your first live event. You can open this same guide any time from your Profile inside the app.
What is JoyR1der?Live experiences you can watch, join and take part in — hosted by real people.
JoyR1der is a live‑streaming app built around live events and rides. A host goes live — a workout, a music set, a cook‑along, a chat, a tour — and you can watch, join in, and interact in real time. You can:
Watch live events for free just by browsing.
Join in — chat, go on mic or camera, tip the host, and take part.
Create your own — go live, post updates, or request a ride from a host.
Everyone starts the same way: you can simply watch. When you're ready to do more — chat, spend, or go on camera — there's a quick one‑time check (more on that in Staying safe).
Clicks & Bonus Clicks — how paying worksThe one thing worth understanding before anything else. It's simpler than it looks.
JoyR1der doesn't charge you in dollars inside the app. Instead it uses a friendly in‑app credit. Think of it like tokens at a fair: you swap real money for a pile of tokens once, then spend the tokens on the rides and treats you want — without reaching for your card every time.
There are two kinds of token. Clicks carry the ℂ symbol; Bonus amounts are labelled “Bonus” and never carry it:
ℂ Clicks — the tokens you buy with real money — the exact price is shown before you pay. You can spend Clicks on anything in the app. Clicks you buy can't be cashed out; only Clicks you earn as a host or creator can, once they've matured.
Bonus Clicks — free tokens we give you: daily rewards, welcome gifts and special offers. You can always spend them on JoyR1der's own extras (memberships, boosts, cosmetics), and on any host's event, content or membership that shows the “Accepts bonus” pill — everything else a host sells is paid in Clicks. Bonus Clicks expire 30 days after you receive them (90 days for Bonus a host is paid), and they can't be turned back into cash.
You can top up your tokens any time from your Wallet — tap the ℂ pill next to your avatar, or go to Profile → Wallet.
🎟️ You never have to choose which tokens to spend
Where Bonus is accepted, JoyR1der automatically spends your Bonus Clicks first — so you use up the free ones before they expire — and only then dips into the Clicks you bought. Where it isn't, you pay in Clicks. If you can't afford to ride an event you'll see “You need more clicks to ride — Get Some” on its details page. Your running spend is always shown on screen, so there are never any surprises.
One more thing worth knowing: when you pay a host, JoyR1der keeps a 19% platform fee and the host keeps the other 81%. That's it — no hidden charges.
Finding your way around — the four tabsThe home screen is split into four tabs along the top. Tap a tab to switch.
The home screen. The four tabs sit along the top: Live Now · People · Content · Posts. The big card is a live event — the faint “sneak peek” play button lets you preview it.
Everything on JoyR1der is grouped into four simple tabs. Tap one to switch to it:
🔴 Live Now — live events happening now and coming up soon. This is your front page — scroll to see what's on.
👥 People — browse people, hosts, Teams and Organisations. Find friends and someone to follow.
▶️ Content — videos, clips and digital goods you can buy or watch.
➤ Posts — short updates, photos and videos from people — like a social feed.
You'll land on Live Now each time you open the app.
Each tab has hidden sub‑categoriesA quick trick that unlocks a lot: press and hold any tab to filter what it shows.
Each of the four tabs can show different slices of its content. To see them, press and hold a tab (or tap a tab a second time when it's already selected). A little menu slides up — pick the slice you want. Here's what each tab offers.
🔴 Live Now — “Show events”
All — everything: live now and coming up.
Live Now — only events streaming right this second.
Coming Soon — events scheduled for later, so you can plan and set a reminder.
Past Events — events that have already finished (some have recordings to buy).

Following — posts only from people you follow.
Saved — posts you've bookmarked to read later.

💡 Remember the gesture
Whenever a feed isn't showing quite what you want, press and hold its tab. Every one of the four tabs hides these extra slices behind that gesture.
The same menu on every tab also has a Categories row: tap it and pick a category (Music, Fitness…) to see only events, people, content or posts in it. All Categories clears it.
The row of iconsJust under the tabs is a search box and a few handy buttons.
On the home screen, below the tabs, you'll find:
🔎 Search — find events, people, content or posts by name.
🌐 Globe — open the map to see what's happening near you or anywhere in the world. (Press and hold it to jump straight to a recent place.)
📅 Calendar — browse by date — great for finding what's coming up. (Press and hold for quick dates like “Today” or “This Week”.)
🎛️ Filters — fine‑tune the feed by popularity and other options.
👤 Person — show only your own items.
ℹ️ Coming up in the detailed guide
The map (with its tap‑to‑set search radius), the calendar and its colour legend each get a full step‑by‑step walkthrough in the detailed sections we're adding next.
Joining your first live eventFrom the Live Now feed to watching and taking part — step by step.
An event's page. You can see the host, what it's about, and the price to join — here ℂ130 per minute.
On the Live Now tab, scroll to an event that interests you. A red LIVE badge means it's streaming right now.
Tap the card to open the event. You'll see the host, a description, and the price.
Check the price. Paid events usually cost a number of Clicks per minute (e.g. ℂ130/min). Some are free to watch.
Tap Join. You're in — watch, and when you're ready, chat, go on mic, tip or take part.
Your live spend shows on screen the whole time. Tap Leave whenever you like; you only pay for the time you were in.
You ride one live event at a time. Still on another ride? We'll ask whether to go back to it or leave it and join this one (leaving charges as it always does).
ℹ️ The card footer, and what's under “…”
Cards keep it simple: Like · Comment · Share (now with counts), plus — on an event card — the Join price pill. Tap “…”, right next to Share, for everything else: Repost, Save, Locate on map, Report event, Mute host, Block host, and — if it's your own event — Edit and Add to calendar. People cards tuck their own Locate on map into the same “…” menu; Posts have a slightly different one (see Posting).
🎟️ Which tokens pay for it?
Clicks — and Bonus Clicks too when the event shows the “Accepts bonus” pill. Then JoyR1der spends your free Bonus Clicks first, then the Clicks you bought — automatically. You don't pick; you just watch your spend tick along on screen. (Bonus Clicks expire after 30 days, so it's nice that they get used first.) The terms you join with stay the same until you leave, even if the host changes the setting.
Tip: on the Live Now feed, many cards show a short silent sneak peek of the live event when they scroll into the middle of your screen — a quick way to decide what to join.
📅 Not started yet? Reserve a spot or set a reminder
Open an event that's coming up later and you'll see two buttons near the bottom:
Reserve Spot — books your place now. It takes the event's deposit (or Buy Ticket for a flat‑fee event) in ℂ Clicks up front and holds your seat, then adds the event to Upcoming Rides. You'll be notified when the host goes live. Changed your mind? Tap Cancel your Booking and the deposit comes straight back. Classes are different: a class you cancel or miss isn't refunded (a session from a pack or a series pass counts as used). If the host cancels a class, skips a week, doesn't go live (or doesn't really run it — live for at least five minutes and still live five minutes after the start), or a moderator ends it, you get back what you paid for it — your Clicks, the session back on your pack, or that class's share of what you paid for your series pass — and if the host ends the class for good, the unused sessions on your pack are refunded too. A weekly class runs for a set number of classes; a series pass ("Pass for all N classes") books you into every class still to come that you haven't already booked or used — and charges only for those, at that share of the pass price — and the price you paid stands even if the host changes it later. Your passes are under Profile › My Class Passes. JoyR1der holds what you pay and only pays the host for each class once it has run and its 24-hour refund window has closed — hosts see it as In escrow until then. If the event is already full you'll see Join waitlist instead.
Remind me — a free, one‑tap reminder — no payment. It flips to Reminder set ✓, and we'll nudge you with a notification (and an email) shortly before the event starts and again when it goes live. Tap it again to switch the reminder off.
Buying ClicksTop up your tokens so you're ready to join, tip and buy.
Open your Wallet — tap the ℂ balance pill next to your avatar, or go to Profile → Wallet.
Tap Buy Clicks, then pick a bundle — for example ℂ1,000, ℂ5,000 or ℂ10,000.
Tap Buy and confirm the purchase through your phone's app store (Apple or Google), or your card on the web.
Your new Clicks appear in your balance straight away, ready to spend.
ℹ️ Price
The exact price of each bundle is shown before you confirm. Clicks you buy are for spending in the app — they can't be cashed out.
Pick a bundle under Get Clicks and tap Buy.
💡 Short on Clicks mid‑browse?
The Content tab no longer sells Clicks inline — if your balance runs low it shows a quick “Need more Clicks? Top up in your Wallet” link that jumps straight here.
Creating things — the “+” buttonOne button makes everything. A quick tap, or a press‑and‑hold for the full menu.
Press and hold the + for the quick menu: Go Live Now · Create an Event · Request a Ride · More…
The round white + button floats in the bottom‑right of the home and Posts screens. It does two things:
A quick tap does the most likely thing for where you are — a new post on the Posts tab, the Go Live page on the Events feed, Request a Ride on the People tab, or Content Studio on the Content tab.
Press and hold to open the quick create menu: Go Live Now, Create an Event, Request a Ride, and More…
The Go Live page shows a preview of your live — your saved Live Now title, cover and price — with one red Go Live Now button. If you belong to a Team or Organisation, Host as lets you go live as them instead (the preview switches to their settings). Want something more tailored? Create an Event and Request a Ride sit at the bottom of the page.
Tap More… for everything else JoyR1der can create.
The full More… menu includes:
Upload Content — add a video or clip to sell or share.
Post — write a post for the Posts feed.
Update my Available Now status — tell people you're free to ride right now.
Setup a Service — define what you offer and its price.
Start a Team — a group that shares earnings equally.
Start an Organisation — a company/promoter account with guest hosts.
💡 Can't find how to make something?
Press and hold the + and tap More… — every “create” action in the whole app lives there.
The full More… create menu.
Your profileYour home base — balance, settings, and every role you can play.
Tap your avatar (top‑right) to open your profile.
Tap your picture in the top‑right corner to reach your profile — or tap the ℂ balance pill just to its left for a shortcut straight to your Wallet. Your profile opens with a quick hero — your spendable balance (tap it for the Wallet) alongside Go Live and Top Up buttons — then everything else, grouped into five sections:
My schedule — the card under your balance shows what’s next and how much is on this week. Tap it for a calendar of every day you’re hosting, riding, promoting or running a session; tap a day for an hour-by-hour view (hosts see their available hours shaded).
Activity & money — Dashboard and your Wallet (balance, Buy Clicks, earnings and subscriptions). My schedule is the card above them. Things you've bought are under My Purchased Items.
Account — Age check & ID (where your age check and ID check stand, and the way into them — plus a row to pay an ID‑check fee while one is owed), Getting set up and Settings, then your account actions: Refunds and Account Reviews (when you have any), Get Verified, Change Password and Change Email. Sign out sits on its own at the very bottom of the page.
Your roles — Rider, Host, Promoter, Content Reviewer — switch on whichever you want to play. Everyone starts as a Rider.
Promote & purchases — My Boosts, My Purchased Items, My Subscriptions.
Groups — Teams and Organisations.
Nothing's been removed — it's the same rows, just grouped so they're quicker to scan. Getting set up still sits near the top if you haven't finished it. It lists everything you can set up — host your first event, boost your events, advertise, run research and more — with a progress ring, and picks up exactly where you left off on any device.
Your roles — turn on as many as you like; everyone starts as a Rider:
Rider — your Clicks, activity and social life as someone who joins events. My Requests lists the ride requests you've made that are still going — waiting, scheduled, accepted or under way — with their actions; once one closes (declined, expired or cancelled) what happened is in your Alerts. A ride whose deposit went to the host can be disputed there for 24 hours.
Host — run your own events, set up your pricing, and track earnings.
Promoter — earn a commission helping other hosts grow.
Content Reviewer — help review reported content (if invited).
Promote & purchases
My Boosts — every boost you've bought: promotions with their reach and results (counted while each ran), and the in‑app boosts and Profile Boost as purchase lines — what, when, how long and what you paid. You boost an item from the item itself.
My Purchased Items — content, goods and subscriptions you've bought.
My Subscriptions — manage or cancel your memberships.
The Settings row (under Account) opens Settings — language, notifications, location, Post Feed, privacy and policies.
Your profile, page by pageA guided tour of every screen behind your avatar — what each one is for and when you'd use it.
Tap your avatar (top‑right) to open your profile. Across the very top are three sub‑tabs — Profile (everything below), Search (find people and things), and Messages (your chats, enquiries and alerts; the red number is unread messages). The rest of this section walks through each row in order.
Edit Profile — how others see you
The profile setup wizard — tap Edit Profile to open it.
Tapping Edit Profile opens a short setup wizard. Step 1 (Profile) is the important one for everyone:
Tap the camera badge to add a profile photo (you'll do the free selfie check first if you haven't yet). A real photo earns far more trust than an empty avatar.
Set your Name (up to 80 characters — it can't be blank) and a short Bio (up to 300).
Set your Location — tap Use this device for your current spot, or Use map to pick a place. Then check your Timezone: until you pick one, it's only our best guess and isn't saved — tap Yes, that's right, Use this device, or the Timezone box to choose.
Tap Save — or, if you host, Next to walk through the host steps, or Done (top‑right) to save every step you changed and exit. If a save fails you stay on the step; leaving with unsaved changes asks first.
The other steps (Live Now, Available Now, Event) appear once you host — until then you'll see a Become a host link instead. You don't need them just to watch and take part.
Dashboard — your activity at a glance
The Dashboard is your one‑page look at the week ahead. Only the cards that apply to you appear:
A suggestion — one thing worth doing now, like a payout that's ready (it opens your Wallet) or a streak to keep alive.
Next up — a countdown to your next event, and what you're hosting, riding and promoting this week, plus upcoming events from people you follow.
Your stats & streaks — the last 30 days of activity and your hosting or riding streaks. Hosts also see their followers and members.
Monthly goal — (hosts and promoters) a ring showing the Clicks you've earned in the last 30 days against the goal you set in Dashboard settings.
Who's live & available — people you follow who are live or free to book right now.
Leaderboards, Guardians & achievements — the top hosts, riders, promoters and sellers, where you rank, the Guardian community, and badges you've earned.
Tap the sliders icon (top‑right) for Dashboard settings: milestone alerts and, if you host or promote, your monthly earnings goal in whole dollars. Each change saves on its own; if one doesn't, you're told and it switches back. If the Dashboard can't load, it says so with a Try again button.
Your balances, earnings, payouts and the Daily Bonus Drop aren't on the Dashboard — they're in your Wallet.
Earnings (in your Wallet)
There's no separate earnings page any more — everything you've earned (hosting, promoting, Org treasury transfers and platform Bonus) is in the Earnings section of your Wallet. The chart's times are in your own time zone, and it counts only new earnings — a refund coming back to your balance isn't shown as earning again. Where part of a total was paid in Bonus, the chart says how much, in words. Below it is your Payout history: one line per payout, marked Processing, Paid or Returned to balance (if a payout bounces, the money comes back and the line says so).
Payout account. Your Wallet (and the Host and Promoter sections of your Profile) shows your payout account as Not set up, Waiting for approval, Ready or Problem, with Manage to set it up or change your bank. You'll need to pass the free ID check before your first payout — the Wallet tells you up front. Payouts usually reach your bank in 2–5 business days, and if there's ever a problem with one, a red banner at the very top of your Wallet has the fix button.
🎟️ Reading the two balances
Clicks are real Clicks — the ones you bought and the ones you earned. Only earned Clicks can be cashed out, once you've earned enough and they've matured; Clicks you bought never can. Bonus Clicks are free credit — they spend like Clicks wherever Bonus is accepted, but can't be cashed out and expire after 30 days (Bonus a host is paid expires after 90). Your balance shows real Clicks as the headline with any Bonus beside it in words (“+ 500 Bonus”), because most hosts take real Clicks only; “Payout ready” is matured earned Clicks only.
When your matured earnings reach the minimum (about $100), the green Request Payout button in your Wallet sends them through our payout partner, Trolley (at this stage, to a PayPal account).
Wallet (was “Buy Clicks”)
Your money hub. Opens straight to your Clicks balance, with any Bonus beside it in words, and one big Buy Clicks button to top up. Under Manage: My Subscriptions, your Payout account (earners), Recent activity and your Daily spending limit. Your holds and payouts, and the Earnings chart, are further down.
Recent activity is a statement of your own account for the last 90 days — every purchase, spend, refund, earning, payout and Bonus grant, in plain words. Bonus is on the same list, labelled as Bonus. It never shows anyone else's details.
Daily spending limit. To keep accounts safe, there's a limit on how many real Clicks you can spend in any 24 hours (rides, Private Line calls, tips and purchases all count; Bonus doesn't). The Wallet shows what you've used and what's left. If you reach it — even mid‑ride or mid‑call — the app says so and the ride or call ends; time you've already ridden, and a ride's agreed minimum, are still paid (they count toward the limit but are never stopped by it). Verify ID to raise it lifts it.
You can also jump here straight from the ℂ balance pill next to your avatar — see Buying Clicks for the step‑by‑step. The Content tab no longer sells Clicks inline; if you're short mid‑browse it nudges you with a “Top up in your Wallet” link that lands here too.
Rider — your life as someone who joins
The Rider hub — everything you do as a participant.
My Memberships — hosts you subscribe to.
Spend Alerts & Limits — set your own caps and warnings so you never overspend. The auto-leave limit starts at ℂ1,200, can't go below ℂ100, and saves when you finish typing; clear the box to turn it off.
Upcoming Rides — events you've booked or set a reminder for.
Past Rides — your history.
My Free Ride Tokens — free seats a host has comped you.
My Festival Passes — all‑access passes you hold.
My Group Seats — seats you booked on a private group session: see who has each seat, give the rest to friends, or take one back until the session starts. Everyone you give a seat to gets the session's reminders. Seats nobody uses, yours included, are paid to the host.
Call History — past calls, sessions and rides.
Referral Bonus — invite friends. Share your referral link or @username; when a friend names you as their referrer within 3 days of joining, you each get Bonus Clicks once they take their first paid ride. The screen shows the current amount, how many friends have joined and how many are yet to ride.
Privacy — who can contact and find you. (Camera & mic on when hosting shows only if you host.)
Host — run your own events
If you want to host, this is your control centre. The Available to host toggle at the top makes you appear as free‑right‑now; tap it to edit your listing. Below:
Create an Event — schedule a live event or bookable session.
Host Requests — custom requests riders have sent you.
Upcoming / Past Events — your schedule and history.
Set Default Event Settings — save defaults so you can go live in a couple of taps.
Availability Schedule — publish the hours you can take rides.
Your services — named, priced sessions riders can book (e.g. a 30‑min session). You pick how each is booked: Solo (a private 1:1), Private group (one person pays for several seats and gives them to friends; everyone joins on their own device) or Open group (goes live publicly so anyone can join). Riders see your choice; they never pick it.
Content Studio — upload and sell videos, images, PDFs and audio.
Full how‑tos for creating and scheduling events — and setting up your availability calendar — are being added as illustrated walkthroughs.
The Host hub — set up, go live, and manage your events.
The other rows
Promoter — if a host has added you, earn a commission helping them grow.
Content Reviewer — (if invited) help review reported content.
My Boosts — every boost you've bought: promotions with their reach and results (counted while each ran), and the in‑app boosts and Profile Boost as purchase lines — what, when, how long and what you paid. You boost an item from the item itself.
My Purchased Items — cosmetics, bought content and subscriptions.
My Subscriptions — manage or cancel your memberships and add‑ons.
My Gift Memberships — memberships you've gifted or received — assign, redeem, reclaim.
Watch and Earn — how often you're offered rewarded videos. (Post Feed, the sensitive‑content display settings, is in Settings › App.)
Teams — pool and split event earnings with a band or family.
Organisations — own the events and pay each host a commission.
Account Reviews — (under Account) see anything under review and appeal a decision about you — a strike or penalty within 7 days, an account closure, or content taken down for copyright — plus any strikes or restrictions on your account. Whoever reported you stays anonymous.
Settings
The Settings row (Profile › Account) opens your settings, grouped into four sections:
App
App language — choose your language.
Notifications — for everyone: the All emails switch (turn every email off, or back on), the Optional emails switch (digests, reminders and updates by email — off until you turn it on, and the weekly events email and host-online emails only apply once it is on) and those two per-type switches. Hosts also get Push notifications switches for new ride requests and payouts — off stops the phone notification, but it still shows in your Alerts.
Location — whether you share your location, and how precisely. If your phone or browser won't give JoyR1der your location, this page says so and shows how to fix it. (Your timezone is set in Edit Profile.)
Post Feed — how sensitive content (graphic or upsetting, such as news or medical) shows in the Post Feed.
Help & policies
JoyR1der User Guide — opens this guide.
Help & Support — get in touch and find answers.
Terms · Code of Conduct · Child Safety · Copyright & Digital Rights · Privacy Policy — the policies that keep JoyR1der safe. Each opens the current, official version in your browser (on the web, tap Open).
Privacy & about
Privacy & Safety — your privacy switches: whether others see your real name, who can find you by name or email, DM enquiries, sharing activity with friends and recommendations. (The same switches as Rider › Privacy.) If a switch can't be saved, it flips back and tells you.
Download my data — at the bottom of Privacy & Safety (also Rider › Privacy): saves a JSON copy of your profile, consents, Clicks and Bonus history, rides, friends, follows, blocks and reports you filed. On the web it downloads; in the app it opens the share sheet. Your uploads and purchases download from where you manage them (Content Studio, My Purchased Items). A few downloads per hour are allowed.
Version & Logs — app version and a debug log.
On your Profile page, under Account
Change Password — update your password. A typo or a wrong current password is shown right in the box, so you don't retype everything.
Change Email — for email-and-password accounts. We send a confirmation link to the new address and nothing changes until you open it. Mistyped your address at sign-up? Tap Wrong email address? on the verify-email screen.
Sign out / Sign out everywhere — at the very bottom of your profile. Signing out affects this device; Sign out everywhere also ends your other sessions (each within about an hour).
Forgot your password? — tap Forgot password on the sign-in screen and we'll email a reset link. Signed up with Google or Apple? Use that button instead.
Suspended or restricted? — you'll see a Suspended screen with the reason, when it ends (if it's timed) and a button to appeal.
Updated terms — when our terms change materially you'll be asked to review and accept them before carrying on.
⚠️ Danger zone
Set apart in red so it's never an accidental tap: Delete Account — permanently deletes your account. If you host, your upcoming classes and events are cancelled and your weekly classes ended — riders get their money back straight away — and if you're live, end your stream first. If you earn on JoyR1der, your account closes straight away but is deleted after a hold of at least 24 hours, so any refunds can settle first: your earnings are held (no payouts) until then, the app tells you the date, and to cancel you sign back in before it and tap Cancel the deletion. Classes, seats, packs and passes you've paid for with other hosts are given up (no refund), and nothing more is forfeited than the screen showed you — if that would change, we ask you first. Once the deletion completes there's no undo.
Hosting — getting set upEverything a host configures once, so going live later takes just a tap or two. All of this lives under Profile → Host (and the Edit Profile wizard).
ℹ️ Three ways people find you
Live Now = you're broadcasting right now. Available Now = you're free and waiting to be booked (not broadcasting yet). Scheduled Event = planned for a future time. You set defaults for each below.
1 · Set up your profile photo & bio
Profile → Edit Profile → the Profile step.
Open your Profile (tap your avatar, top‑right) and tap Edit Profile.
On the Profile step, tap the camera badge to add a profile photo (a real, clear photo earns far more joins than an empty avatar).
Type your Name and a short Bio — a line or two on what you do.
Set your Location (tap Use this device or Use map) and choose your Timezone — your bookable hours and every booking time use it. If you change it after setting hours, you'll be asked whether they keep the same times of day or the same moments.
Tap Done to save — or Next to carry on through the host steps below.
2 · Set up your Available Now defaults
“Available Now” tells riders you're free to be booked on demand. Reach it from Edit Profile → Available Now → Set up Available Now (or the ⚡ bolt on the home screen).
Add a cover photo and a line under “What are you available to do?”
Tap When are you available to set your hours (that's the Availability Schedule — step 3).
Under What you host, pick up to 3 categories (they're how riders filtering by category find you, and you can change them in Edit Profile → Live Now too), choose this listing's category from them, then set your Pricing: Per minute or a Fixed fee, then enter the rate. Prices are in Clicks (ℂ). Your rate is also the lowest offer you'll be sent.
Turn I accept custom requests on if riders may ask for something tailored.
Set your Minimum ride length (5–120 min, default 15). A rider who ends early still pays for it (never more than the length they booked); if you end early, they pay only for the time used. Their deposit is a tenth of the price of the longer of the booked length and your minimum, and it's returned once the ride completes (if a rider who leaves early can't cover the rest of the minimum from their balance, that part comes out of the deposit instead).
On a Fixed-fee ride you both get a 1 minute left alert. The ride doesn't end by itself: tap End ride when you're done (after the time is up a Time's up reminder stays on screen). The rider is never charged more than the agreed fee.
Choose your Ride style: Solo (private) is a private 1:1 that isn't listed (your card shows In a private while you ride), and Open group (public) goes live publicly so anyone can join — the same words as your services. Riders see your choice but can't change it.
For an open group, turn on Price stepping if you want the per‑rider price to drop as a group grows (riders recruit others to unlock lower prices).
Set auto‑accept and a buffer between bookings to taste, then tap Save (always pinned at the bottom).
Optional: Promote me puts you at the top of Available Now and/or People › All with a Featured tag. Pick when it starts (now, or schedule it for later), how long, a total budget and the most you'll pay per view (in real Clicks), and which of your categories to show in. You only pay when you're actually shown first; Stop refunds whatever is left. It's also under Profile → Host → Promote me.
Pricing, ride mode and price‑stepping on the Available Now setup.
3 · Set up your Availability Schedule
The weekly hours grid — tap to toggle the hours you're free.
This is the weekly grid of hours you can take rides — it applies to all requests.
Tap an hour cell to mark yourself available; tap a day name at the top to toggle the whole day.
Use the quick‑fill chips — Weekday eves, Weekends, or Copy last week — to fill fast.
Move between weeks with the ‹ › arrows (up to 26 weeks ahead). Highlighted cells are the hours you've chosen; faded past hours can't be picked.
Tap Copy week → to repeat this week forward, then Save. Times are shown in your own timezone (noted at the top).
4 · Set up your Live Now defaults
These are the title, price and cover used when you tap Go Live Now without setting up a specific event. Found at Edit Profile → Live Now.
Add a cover image (without one, your profile photo is used). Remove cover takes a saved one off.
Set a Live title so you stand out in the “Live now” feed — clear it to go back to the automatic “@you is live”.
Set your Price per minute (Clicks) — what each rider pays; the box shows it. Leave it blank for the ℂ10/min system default. If your default event settings use split, fixed‑fee or other pricing, the step shows that price and a link to change it there.
Confirm your live location, then move on. These save as your defaults.
Your Live Now defaults — title, per‑minute price and cover.
5 · Set up your Event default settings
The Pricing step — one of five in the Event‑defaults wizard.
Defaults are the starting point every new event (and instant go‑live) uses — set them once to save time. Reach them at Host → Set Default Event Settings. It's a five‑step wizard:
Schedule — go‑live‑now vs scheduled (and recurring — step 6).
Pricing — Cumulative (PPM) — each rider pays per minute, so earnings grow with the crowd — or Fixed Fee — one flat ticket price. Add price‑stepping if you like.
Options — live chat, two‑way audio, driving rider, seat caps, visibility (public / private / unlisted), members‑only, record, solo, and more.
Review — check it over and save.
Hosting — creating eventsGo live on the spot, schedule ahead, repeat a session weekly, or run a whole festival.
7 · Create an event
Press and hold the + button and choose Create an Event (or tap Create an Event at the bottom of the Go Live page, or Profile → Host → Create an Event).
Pick who you're hosting as under Host as (yourself, a Team, or an Organisation).
Leave Use my default event settings on for a quick start, or turn it off to fill in every detail.
Choose Go Live Now to start broadcasting immediately, or Schedule for Later to pick a date and time.
If you turned defaults off, step through Basics → Schedule → Pricing → Options → Content → Moderators → Review (the same steps as the defaults wizard, plus content attachments and co‑hosts/moderators).
On the Review step, tap Publish (or Go Live Now).
The create screen — Go Live Now, or Schedule for Later.
6 · Set up a recurring session
Want the same session every week? When you Create an Event and choose Schedule (for a new event), the Schedule step shows a Repeat this event switch:
Turn on Repeat this event.
Pick a frequency — Daily, Weekly or Monthly.
Set “Every N” (e.g. every 1 week) and an “Until” date.
The preview tells you how many events it'll create (“Creates N events, through <date>”). Publish once and JoyR1der makes them all — a whole series from one setup.
8 · Create a festival with multiple events
A festival is a parent event with several child “acts” across stages and times — ideal for Teams and Organisations.
Switch to hosting as a Team or Organisation (set one up from the + menu → More, or Profile).
Open that group's hub and choose create → Festival (“a multi‑stage event with several acts & times”). You can also start one from the Create‑Event Basics step via “Create a festival instead.”
In the festival planner, add each act onto a day + stage slot, and open an act to set its own Basics, Schedule, Pricing, Options and Moderators.
Give each act a performer split if the camera‑host and the performer are different people.
Publish — every child event goes live on its own schedule under the festival.
9 · Recording an eventKeep a copy of your stream to sell or share afterwards — and choose what gets recorded.
The Record this event switch (event Options). It records your camera in HD by default.
Turn on Record this event (in a new event's Options, or your Event defaults) and recording starts when you go live. Riders are told it's being recorded, and the file lands in your Content Studio to price or publish.
When you start a recording from the live screen, you can pick what to capture:
Record just your camera — a High‑Definition recording of only your camera, the sharpest possible result. Best for a DJ set or solo performance where you only want your own feed — co‑hosts aren't included.
Record all — records everyone who has their camera on, composited together. Best for a podcast or panel where you want all the guests. Quality can vary with each participant's connection, so it's typically a step below the HD single‑camera option.
💡 Which should I pick?
Solo and want it crisp? Record just your camera (HD). Interviewing guests and want them all on tape? Record all. A plain tap on the record button defaults to the HD single‑camera option.
⏱️ Recordings are capped at 3 hours
Your live stream can run as long as you like, but a recording stops automatically after 3 hours. You'll get an on‑screen heads‑up one minute before it ends — the stream itself keeps going.
10 · Uploading & selling contentSell recordings, clips, images, PDFs and audio from your Content Studio.
Open Content Studio (Profile → Host → Content Studio, or the + menu → More → Upload Content).
Tap Upload and pick your file (you'll do the quick selfie check the first time). Event recordings also land here automatically.
Open the item to prepare it: set a cover image (or use the video's first frame), optionally make a ≤60s clip to sell separately, and add a Title and Description.
Choose Display (show it in the public content feed) and Access (Members only, or open to everyone).
Set Pricing: toggle Free to view, or turn it off and enter a price in Clicks. Optionally allow download and set an auto‑hide expiry.
Tap Save draft while you work, or Publish to make it live. You keep 81% of every sale.
Preparing an item for sale — display, access, price and download.
11 · Community ModerationHelp keep JoyR1der safe as a volunteer Community Guardian.
Community Moderation lets trusted adults review reported content and help keep the platform safe. People who do it are called Community Guardians. You reach it from Profile → Community Moderation.
How you become a Community Guardian
Open Profile → Community Moderation and tap Get started (you must be 18+).
Read and accept the short agreement (it includes wellbeing safeguards — you can stop any time).
Pass a quick 3‑question test (you need all three right; there's a short cooldown if you don't).
Verify your ID — we cover the cost. Once done, your Community Moderation workspace opens.
What the workspace looks like
Send me moderation requests — a switch at the top. Leave it on to be offered new reviews; turn it off any time to pause — you won't be sent new work (this is how you “stop”). Turn it back on whenever you like.
Guardian tools — a button for the Leaderboard.
Moderator requests — hosts asking for a JoyR1der moderator on their live event (any Guardian can answer) — tap Claim to join and help (old, expired requests drop off automatically).
The review queue — reported items to review. You can dismiss, uphold, remove without penalty, or escalate anything serious. A case needs two matching Guardian votes to resolve, and you vote on your own — you won't see how others voted. Reporters stay anonymous (you'll see “Reporter 1”, “Reporter 2”), and the most serious reports go only to official JoyR1der moderators.
A volunteer role
Guardians are unpaid volunteers, not JoyR1der employees: there is no pay per review or per case. When a host makes you a moderator of their live event, you get into that event free — that is the only perk, and it is just for you, on that event. Pay from before this change stays in your history under Wallet → Clicks activity. You can rise from Community Guardian to Senior Guardian through good reviews; official JoyR1der moderators are staff.
❤️ Your wellbeing comes first
You may occasionally see upsetting reports. Take breaks whenever you need, and flip Send me moderation requests off to pause with no questions asked.
Staying safe & verifyingWatch freely. A quick, private check unlocks the rest.
JoyR1der is strictly for adults — everyone is 18 or over, to keep children safe — and we keep it that way with a light, private check:
Just watching — needs nothing at all. Browse and watch live events straight away.
A quick selfie — unlocks the interactive parts: chatting, messaging, going on mic or camera, and buying or spending Clicks. It's an instant, private age check — the photos are analysed and not kept. Going live or turning your camera on also checks one camera frame for age.
Full ID check — a one‑off check through Stripe that raises your daily limits and is needed for higher‑trust roles (running an Organisation, advertising, research or moderation).
Daily limits (to stop fraud)
After the selfie check: buy up to $100 of Clicks a day and spend up to $100 a day. After the full ID check: buy up to $10,000 a day and spend up to $1,500 a day. Limits apply to bought Clicks only — Bonus Clicks and free‑ride tokens don't count towards them.
The community rules — in one line each
Be decent. JoyR1der is not an adult‑content platform and not a place for harm.
No violence, threats, harassment or hateful conduct.
No pornography, nudity or sexual content — the 18+ rule protects minors and never permits adult content.
Zero tolerance for anything that abuses or endangers children or animals — removed immediately and reported to the authorities.
You can report anything that breaks the rules from inside an event; staff review every report.
Membership tiersAn optional ladder of monthly perks — No Ads up to Ultra.
Want extra perks beyond pay‑as‑you‑go? JoyR1der offers five tiers, paid in ℂ Clicks monthly or yearly, each one building on the last:
No Ads — ℂ1,500/mo — removes the ads in your feeds (other people's reposts of ads included), and lets you peek at live events for as long as you like with no peek ads. The first rung — every tier below includes it. (You can still choose to watch an ad to earn bonus watchtime — see below — No Ads only removes the ads you didn't ask for.)
Plus — ℂ2,700/mo — your blue check: the ID check is free while you're subscribed (complete it and the badge appears). Plus No Ads, chat messages that stay on screen 1 minute longer, 100 Bonus Clicks a month, and a small boost to how far your posts reach.
Pro — ℂ5,100/mo — everything in Plus, plus replying in any chat, Eternal Posts, Pro posting perks, chat messages that stay 2 minutes longer, a stronger post‑reach boost, and 300 Bonus Clicks a month.
Premium — ℂ8,700/mo — everything in Pro, plus People Boost, top post reach, chat messages that stay 3 minutes longer, and 600 Bonus Clicks a month.
Ultra — ℂ20,000/mo — everything in Premium, plus free riding on any public group event (up to 3 hours per event a day), chat messages that never expire, and 1,000 Bonus Clicks a month.
💡 Pay yearly and save
No Ads, Plus, Pro and Premium give you 2 months free on a 12‑month plan (ℂ15,000 / 27,000 / 51,000 / 87,000); Ultra gives 1 month free (ℂ220,000). Don't want a whole tier? Individual perks — Reply to Chats, extra chat live‑time (+1, +2 or +3 minutes, on top of whatever your tier gives), People Boost and Eternal Posts — are also sold on their own, monthly — find them in the Content tab on Discover, or under Explore subscriptions in Profile › My Subscriptions.
Tiers and perks renew automatically from your Clicks (every month, or every 12 months on an annual prepay) until you cancel in Profile › My Subscriptions. When you tap Subscribe you pick Monthly or Annual and see what's charged today and the renewal price before you confirm — nothing is charged until you do.
🎁 Earn bonus watchtime — on us
Short on Clicks but want to watch? On many events you can watch a quick ad to earn bonus watchtime, applied straight to that stream — you pick the ad length (a 5‑second one earns a little, a longer one earns more). You watch it to the end, then you're in. When your bonus time is nearly up we ask whether you'd like to watch another ad or start paying — we never spend your Clicks unless you choose to. It's offered only where an advertiser can cover the host's rate, so the host is always paid in full for your bonus time. (Not every event offers it — premium hosts' rates are too high for an ad to cover.)
ℹ️ Ultra's free riding, in detail
Ultra's free riding covers public group events only, up to 3 hours per event per day. Near the end the app asks whether you want to keep riding and pay with Clicks; you're never switched to paying without saying yes. It doesn't cover Available‑Now rides, 1:1 bookings, solo sessions or private group events, which always bill normally, even for Ultra members. The host isn't out of pocket either: when you ride free as an Ultra member, JoyR1der pays the host their normal share in Bonus Clicks.
Manage, upgrade or cancel any tier any time under Profile → My Subscriptions — you keep access to the end of the period you've already paid for.
Dig deeperReference detail on each area. Step‑by‑step illustrated walkthroughs for the bigger tasks are being added to this guide.
Riding — joining events & rides
Available Now vs Live Events.Available Now is a host who's free this moment and ready on demand — tap in and start, nothing to schedule. Live Events are scheduled ahead or already streaming to a room. Both are paid the same way, in Clicks (Bonus first, then bought).
Solo (1:1) vs Group rides. Solo is a private ride with just you and the host. Group is shared with other riders — more social, and cheaper per person because the cost is shared.
Why group rides can get cheaper (“price stepping”). Many hosts drop the per‑minute price as more riders join, down to a floor they set — so a fuller room costs each person less. Others use a simple fixed price that never changes. The event tells you which applies, and your current rate is always on screen.
Tipping, gifts & free rides. You can tip the host, send gifts, and buy their content during an event — all in Clicks. A host (or a promoter) can also hand you a free‑ride token for free entry to an event.
Requesting a ride. No one live right now? Hold the + and choose Request a Ride — describe what you want and hosts can pick it up. Hosts your offer doesn't reach (too low, priced the other way, or shorter than their shortest ride) are greyed out. Or open anyone who's Available Now and tap Ride Now: one tap sends the request at their price, and the button turns into a live status bar (keep waiting or cancel) that drops you into the lobby the moment they accept. You can wait on one host at a time — to ride with someone else, cancel the waiting request first (it's free until a host accepts). Want something different? Request a custom ride to describe it and name your rate and length (at least theirs), now or for a time on their calendar. Rates are always whole Clicks — ℂ12 a minute, never ℂ12.5.
One ride at a time. You can have more than one ride lined up — say two hosts have both accepted your Ride Now — but you can only be on one at a time. Join a second while you're still in the first and we'll ask: go back to it, or leave it (charged as a normal leave, including its shortest‑ride minimum) and join the new one. A ride you've booked but don't join still follows the usual no‑show rules for its deposit.
Agreeing the details. Either side can Accept, Decline or Suggest a change (a different price, length or start time) — back and forth until you agree. Whoever needs to answer sees Your turn, and every alert about a request carries the buttons you need right there, so you rarely have to dig for it. When it's your turn, the phone's own notification has Accept, Suggest a change and Decline too: tapping one opens the request and does it (Decline still asks for a reason, and Suggest opens the terms to edit). Tap the alert to open the request and see the whole conversation.
What happens to your Clicks. Sending a request is free. When a host accepts, a deposit of a tenth of the price is held (for a per‑minute ride, priced on the longer of your booked length and the host's shortest ride); it's taken off your bill at the end, or returned. A booking for later holds it about an hour before the start (or straight away if the host confirms it within the hour). Leave an Available Now ride early and you still pay for the host's shortest ride. A ride‑now request gives the host a few minutes to answer (Keep waiting adds more, up to a limit) and then expires; while you're agreeing the details, each turn has 10 minutes for a ride now, or up to 12 hours for a later start. Cancelling is free until the last 30 minutes before the start; after that, once the host is live, your deposit goes to them. If you don't join within 5 minutes of a live start, it also goes to the host. If the host isn't live within 15 minutes of the start, you get it back. Any booking, or a new time for one, needs at least 30 minutes’ notice. Within the hour before a booking you can cancel it, but not move it; a private group’s seats can’t be moved at all — cancel (every seat is refunded) and book a new time.
Private group seats. When a host's service is a Private group, you pay for every seat up front and hand them to friends — when you book, or later from Profile → My Group Seats (until the session starts). Each friend joins on their own device. Any seat nobody uses — your own included — is paid to the host when the session ends; if you think that's wrong, you can ask for a refund from My Group Seats within 24 hours of the end. If a booking never becomes a session, what you paid for its seats comes back to you.
Private sessions during a live stream. Some hosts can take a live stream private 1:1. If they offer it, you'll see Reserve private seat: you're not charged then, only if the host takes the stream private with you (an entry price plus the private per‑minute rate); if they never do, you pay nothing. You can also ask the host to go private with you; they accept or turn it down from their stream.
Memberships. Love a host? Become a member — a monthly subscription that supports them and unlocks perks like members‑only events and a badge. Manage or cancel any time under My Subscriptions. If the host stops offering memberships, yours simply won't renew — you keep it to the end of the month you've paid for, and we let you know.
Hosting — run events & get paid
Set up your profile first. A clear photo and short bio earn far more joins than an empty avatar. To appear on camera you'll pass the quick selfie check once.
Available Now. Turn it on when you're ready to ride on demand; choose Solo (private), a private 1:1, or Open group (public), which goes live publicly so anyone can join, and set your price (whole Clicks a minute) and your shortest ride. Riders see your style; they never pick it. It stays on while JoyR1der is open; close the app and you stay listed for up to 2 hours, then we switch it off and let you know. Turn it off when you're done.
What you host & Promote me. Pick up to three categories you host (Edit Profile → Live Now) so riders filtering by category find you. Removing one that a running Promote me campaign targets asks first — a campaign left with no categories ends and refunds the rest. Want more eyes? Promote me (Profile → Host) runs a short campaign that puts you first on Available Now or People, paid in real Clicks only when you're shown; stop it any time for a refund of the rest.
Your default event. A reusable template (title, cover, description, category, pricing) so you can go live in a couple of taps. Override any detail for a one‑off.
Going live & your controls. Give it a strong title and cover. While live you can chat, bring riders on mic/camera, pin media to everyone's screen, run polls, goals, Q&A and “bid for private”, sell content, promote a trusted rider to co‑host or moderator (moderators are unpaid volunteers; in your Riders list, filter Mods and tap one to Remove as moderator), go private 1:1, adjust your price mid‑stream, record (just you in HD or the whole room), and see earnings tick up live.
Getting paid — the $100 minimum & 90‑day hold. You keep 81% after the 19% platform fee (and any agreed promoter share). Payouts go to your own bank through our payouts provider, Trolley — set up your Payout account in your Wallet first (you'll also pass a free ID check before your first payout); they usually arrive in 2–5 business days. You can request a payout once you've earned at least ℂ10,000 (about $100). Earnings are held for 90 days (so card payments settle and refunds/chargebacks clear), then become cashable.
Promoting — earn by helping hosts
A promoter brings riders to hosts in exchange for a commission, taken off the top of the host's earnings (out of the host's 81% — never on top). You don't apply: a host adds you from their Profile → Promoter settings by your @username or email, and sets your rate (1%–50% of their share). Your Promoter tools then appear in your profile. Promoter earnings are real Clicks and cash out like a host's, with the same $100 minimum and 90‑day hold.
Products & content — sell alongside your events
Host content. Video and media you sell or share — recordings, exclusive clips — priced in Clicks or marked free to view. It keeps earning long after the live event ends.
Digital goods. Downloads, tracks, guides and files, priced in Clicks, sold from your shop. The same 19% fee applies, so you keep 81%.
Memberships. Recurring support from your biggest fans for perks you choose. Earnings from content, goods and memberships are all real Clicks and cash out like any host earnings. Turning memberships off stops new sign‑ups and ends every current membership at the end of the month it's paid for — nobody is charged again, and each member is told when theirs ends.
Posting — stay visible between events
Posts are short updates — text, a photo or a video — shared with your followers and the wider feed. Tag a post (or a piece of content in Content Studio) with up to three categories so people filtering by category find it. Text posts are open to everyone; to attach a photo or video you'll have done the quick selfie check. You can comment on events, posts and content across the app, and repost things you like (including products) to your own audience.
A post's footer keeps Like · Comment · Share, plus a “…” for the rest. On someone else's post that's Not for me, Repost, Save, Report, Mute, Block; switch to your own post and it becomes Repost, Save, Edit, View history, Delete.
Ads have Repost and Share too. Every ad you see — in the feeds, search, a category banner, or after a video ad finishes — has a Repost and a Share button. Repost puts the ad on your profile and in your followers' Following feed, always marked as an ad; you can repost an ad once, and tapping Repost again (or "…" on your repost) removes it. (You can't repost an ad you or your team placed, or one for your own event.) Share sends a link — just the link, not the ad's picture or words: an event ad shares the event, any other ad opens it in JoyR1der. You don't earn anything from reposting or sharing an ad, the advertiser isn't told who did it, and once the ad ends your repost reads "This ad is no longer available". If you've blocked the advertiser, you won't see their ads in anyone's reposts.
Posting as yourself, a Team, or an Organisation. If you belong to a Team or run an Organisation, you can choose who a post comes from — your personal account, or the group — so it carries the right name and picture and reaches the right followers. (A detailed walkthrough of this is being added.)
