Answers to common questions about how JoyR1der works. For the full detail, see our Terms & Conditions and Privacy Policy.
You must be at least 18 years old. JoyR1der does not offer child or teen accounts, and there are no parent- or guardian-managed accounts. Our sign-up screens will not accept a date of birth under 18.
Age is verified in two tiers, so it is not taken on trust:
No. We ask your written consent first, use the selfie (three photos while you follow on-screen prompts) only to estimate your age and confirm liveness, and discard the photos after analysis — no face template is made, and Amazon, which runs the analysis, doesn’t keep them or use them to improve its services. We keep the result (pass or refer, age band, certainty, method and date), never the photos, and we never use face data for advertising, profiling or identification. The selfie is optional — you can always choose the government-ID check instead, anywhere.
Yes. A different person can sit in front of a verified account’s camera, so we also age-check whoever is on camera: one frame from your camera preview each time you go live (before anything is broadcast), one frame when you turn your camera on in an event (and a second about 10 seconds later if the first reads under 18 — skipped if you’ve passed an ID check), an on-camera check staff or a moderator may ask for, and — when it’s switched on — a live safety check of the stream’s preview image. The same consent covers all of these, and going live or turning your camera on asks for it once. Frames aren’t kept, except a frame that may show a child, which is kept privately as safety evidence until staff close the review. See our Privacy Policy for the full detail.
The selfie is always free — and it’s all that riding, spending, going on camera, hosting, co-hosting, promoting, selling content or moderating an event needs. A government-ID check is free when we require it for a safety review (for example, after a report), when a selfie couldn't confirm you're an adult, when it's needed to receive a payout, or when you become an official (platform) moderator (a role JoyR1der pays to verify). A government-ID check only carries a fee (currently ℂ250) when you do it to create an organisation, become an advertiser or researcher, or voluntarily choose ID instead of the free selfie. That fee is fronted for you and recovered from Clicks you later buy or earn.
The selfie is free, so there's never a fee for it. A government-ID-check fee must be paid within 90 days. If it isn't, payouts and your organisation, advertiser and researcher features pause until it's paid. Everything else keeps working, nothing is lost, and they come back as soon as you pay.
Buy Clicks at any time — we recover the fee from your purchase automatically. You'll see what you owe in Profile → Account → “Pay ID fee.” On the website you can also pay it by card there.
You can report any user who appears to be underage. We review the report and may require that user to complete a government-ID check (free to them). If they're confirmed to be an adult, they continue and gain a “verified” badge. If they're confirmed to be under 18 — or refuse or fail the check — they're removed from the platform.
Any ID-check fee you still owe is written off, we refund your remaining purchased Clicks to your card (our support team processes it), and any earned Clicks are forfeited.
Only earned Clicks can be cashed out. Payouts are paid through our payout partner, Trolley (at this stage, to a PayPal account), become eligible after a 90-day maturity hold (a settlement window covering card chargebacks and refunds), and have a minimum of 10,000 Clicks (US$100). You must complete government-ID verification before receiving a payout.
No. Clicks you purchase — with a card through Stripe, or as an in-app purchase on the App Store or Google Play — can never be paid out or withdrawn, and are not refundable to cash, except where the law gives you a right to cancel (see the right of withdrawal in our Terms). They are a licence to use features of the Service and can only be spent on it. Only Clicks you genuinely earn as a creator can be paid out. This is a deliberate anti-money-laundering (AML) safeguard: money you put in to spend on JoyR1der cannot be moved back out — the Service is not a way to store or transfer funds. (Bonus Clicks are likewise never withdrawable.)
No — you ride one at a time. You can have more than one ride lined up (for example, two hosts have both accepted your Ride Now), but you can only be in one live ride at a time. If you try to join a second while you're still in the first, the app asks whether to go back to it or leave it and join the new one. Leaving charges as it always does — the time you rode, plus the ride's shortest-ride minimum if you leave before it. A ride you booked but don't join follows the usual no-show rules for its deposit.
Per-minute rates are always whole Clicks — ℂ12 or ℂ13 a minute, never in between. That goes for hosts' prices, private rates and services, and for the rate a rider offers or suggests on a ride request. Rides are billed in whole Clicks a minute, so a whole rate is exactly what you pay.
Yes — to protect you and the platform from fraud and money laundering, how much you can buy and spend in a rolling 24-hour period is capped, and the caps rise as you verify more. After the free selfie age-check you can buy up to US$100 and spend up to US$100 per day; after completing the government-ID check those limits rise to US$10,000 of purchases and US$1,500 of spending per day. The limits apply to real Clicks only (Bonus and free-ride allowances never count) and are set by JoyR1der (shown here as current values, not a fixed promise). If you reach a limit, verify your ID to raise it or wait for the window to roll forward.
A weekly class runs for a set number of classes — the host sets how many, or the date it ends. A series pass is one payment for every class still to come that you haven't already booked or used; buy it part-way through (or after booking a class or two) and it covers just those classes, at the matching share of the pass price. A class pack is a number of sessions you use one at a time. The price you paid stands: if the host changes a price later, your pass or pack doesn't change, and refunds come from what you paid. While your pass covers a class you can't book it again separately.
If something went wrong with a paid ride, event, seat, pass or purchase, choose Request a refund on it within 24 hours (for an event, 24 hours after it ends). While the request is open, the amount is paused — neither you nor the host receives it. The host has 3 days to respond. If they don't, a request worth ℂ200 or less (Clicks and Bonus together) is approved automatically, as asked; staff decide the rest, and how much of the Clicks and of the Bonus comes back — all, part or none. You can follow every request — and see decisions from the last 30 days — in Profile › Refunds; hosts see theirs in Refund Requests. You can withdraw a request and ask again once while the window is open. Refunds go back the way you paid — Bonus comes back as Bonus — and a refunded video or recording no longer plays or downloads (a copy you already downloaded, or a playback link opened in the last hour, can't be taken back). Hosts: while a request is open, the full amount in dispute is held — on the booking, seat or pass if it hasn't been paid to you yet, otherwise from your earnings, even if that takes your earnings below zero. If the refund is approved you give back your share of it (what you were paid after our commission) and the rest is released to you; if it's declined or withdrawn, all of it is released. If your earnings go below zero you owe the difference, your next earnings pay it off, and payouts pause until they have. Think a refund was wrongly declined? Write to support@joyr1der.com and we'll take another look.
Charged a no-show deposit or a ride's minimum? Open the ride from your alert, or Profile › My Requests, and choose Request a refund within 24 hours.
No. A class you cancel or don't turn up to isn't refunded: what you paid for the seat goes to the host, and a session from a pack or a series pass counts as used. (If the host is already late — the start time has passed and they haven't gone live — or has dropped out of the live class, you can still cancel for a full refund.)
If the host cancels a class, skips a week, ends or shortens the series, doesn't go live within 20 minutes of the start, or doesn't really run it (the host must be live for at least five minutes and still live five minutes after the start time — going live only briefly beforehand, or dropping out soon after it starts, doesn't count), or a moderator ends it, you get back what you paid for that class: your Clicks, the session back on your pack, or that class's share of your series pass — what you paid divided by the classes your pass covered when you bought it. If the host ends the class for good, the unused sessions on your pack are refunded too, at the price you paid for each pack. Refunds go back the way you paid — Bonus comes back as Bonus. Your money isn't paid to the host up front: JoyR1der holds it and pays the host for each class only once that class has run and its 24-hour refund window has closed, so a refund owed to you comes straight from the money held. If you went to a class you paid for with a series pass or a pack and something was wrong with it, you can ask for a refund of that class within those 24 hours, the same as for any event; a class you cancelled or missed can't be disputed.
Not by default. An event is recorded only when its host or a moderator chooses to, or when a JoyR1der administrator records it for safety. Whenever recording starts, everyone in the event sees an on-screen notice and can leave before it continues. Administrator safety recordings are kept privately and are never published or sold. A host’s own recording is their content — the first 90 minutes are free, then we charge the host ℂ3 per minute to cover our costs (they’re told the rate up front and asked to confirm before paid time starts; if they decline or run low on Clicks, recording stops but the event keeps going). A recorded event can run for up to 6 hours.
Subscribing to a creator is a status & access product, bought with Clicks — separate from the platform-wide membership tiers below. Member unlocks the host’s “members only” events plus perks like a badge and extra live-time. Deluxe adds a private Deluxe chat, a gold badge, more live-time — and free riding on events the host chooses to make “Deluxe ride free.” Memberships do not include an always-on ride discount.
Only when the host turns it on for that event — it’s entirely the host’s choice, per event, and they can switch it on or off at any time (even mid-event). While it’s on, the host’s active Deluxe subscribers ride at no charge (the host gives this up out of their own earnings). It isn’t guaranteed, and it only applies to that host’s Deluxe members. If a host ends free riding during a live event, you’ll be asked to accept the normal price or leave before any charge starts. When Deluxe members start or stop riding free, other riders’ per-minute price may step up or down — but never above the rate you were shown when you joined.
New riders get a small, one-time allowance of free riding time — Test-Drive Miles — so you can experience a live public group event at no charge. You complete the quick free selfie first (as you would to ride at all), and then your Test-Drive Miles let you ride for free until the allowance runs out. Test-Drive Miles have no cash value, can never be turned into Clicks or cashed out, and only pay for public group ride time — not memberships, tips, gifts, bids, goods, or one-to-one/solo. When they run out you’re simply asked to pay the normal rate to keep going, or you can leave. Hosts agree that new riders may join and ride free for this short trial (the host isn’t paid for that time, and it costs you nothing).
A ladder of optional monthly platform memberships, billed in Clicks, each one including everything in the tier below it:
Prefer to pay once a year? No Ads, Plus, Pro and Premium give you 2 months free on a 12-month plan (ℂ15,000 / ℂ27,000 / ℂ51,000 / ℂ87,000), renewing every 12 months at the price you subscribed at; Ultra gives 1 month free (ℂ220,000). You can also buy individual perks à la carte, without a membership tier — Reply to Chats (ℂ500/mo), extra chat live-time (+1/+2/+3 minutes for ℂ500/ℂ1,000/ℂ1,500 a month, added on top of any live-time your tier gives), People Boost (ℂ300/mo) and Eternal Posts (ℂ1,500/mo). Tiers and perks renew automatically from your Clicks — every month, or every 12 months on an annual prepay — until you cancel in Profile › My Subscriptions; there’s no refund for time already paid, and you keep access to the end of the paid period. Before anything is charged, the app shows you the price today, the renewal price and how often it renews, and you confirm with Subscribe. You can subscribe from the in-app Shop or the Content feed. It’s a set of feature perks — not money, a payout, or a promise of any particular reach — and tiers, prices and perks may change (we’ll always show a change before it applies).
Only on public group events, for as long as your Ultra subscription is active — up to 3 hours per event per day (days run on UTC). As your free time on an event runs down, the app asks whether you want to keep riding and pay with Clicks once it’s used; if you don’t say yes, your ride pauses when the 3 hours are up and you choose then. You’re never moved onto paid riding without saying yes. It does not cover Available-Now rides, 1:1 bookings, solo sessions, or private group events — those always bill normally, even for Ultra subscribers. An Ultra subscriber also can’t start a 1:1-type event under this benefit (they can still pay for one, like anyone else). When you ride a host’s public group event for free as an Ultra subscriber, the host isn’t left out of pocket: JoyR1der pays them their normal share in Bonus Clicks (non-cashable) for that time. And yes — if the only rider in a public group event happens to be an Ultra subscriber, that’s allowed; the host accepts that possibility the moment they choose to broadcast an event publicly.
Yes. Every ad has Repost and Share. A repost shows the ad on your profile and in your followers' Following feed, clearly marked as an ad — once per ad, and you can remove it any time (you can't repost your own ad). Share sends a link to the ad, not its picture or words (an event ad shares the event). You don't earn from either, the advertiser isn't told who reposted or shared, and an ad that has ended shows as "This ad is no longer available". With No Ads, other people's reposts of ads are hidden too.
No. JoyR1der is not an adult-content or mature-content platform. Pornography, nudity and sexual content are not allowed anywhere on JoyR1der, and we remove them. Everyone here must be 18 or older so that adults can use the app without minors being involved — that rule protects children, and it is never a permission for adult content. Graphic or upsetting content with a real purpose, such as news or medical content, can be marked sensitive: it stays blurred until you choose to view it. See our Community Guidelines for the full standards.
